Dear Neighbors:
The Sloan's Lake Neighborhood Association (SLNA) invites you to join in our community-based endeavor to protect and enhance Sloan's Lake Park and address traffic, cruising, noise and redevelopment issues in the surrounding neighborhood.
Over the past four years, we have had a very positive influence on Park and neighborhood issues. SLNA sponsors a Biannual Spring & Fall Sloan's Lake Clean up of the Lakeshore and the annual May "Return of the Pelicans" Yard & Plant Sale. At SLNA's insistence, a bulletin board was installed near the Boathouse to better inform the community about Park activities. Reconstruction and landscaping of the NW corner of the Park began in spring 2008 and was completed this fall. This prime entrance to our neighborhood will need to be enhanced and beautified over the years in a manner that bespeaks the importance of Sloan's Lake Park as one of Denver's crown jewel parks. Over the next year, we will be working with the City on new Park projects, renovation and reuse of the Boat House, a redesign of the marina and a new pump house, possible storm drainage ponds that could change the nature of the NE corner of the Park and relocation and design of the maintenance offices and storage areas. We will continue to work with District 1 Police to combat crime, cruising and graffiti and to be vigilant against threats to the quality of life in our neighborhood. We will encourage Lake Middle School's participation in the National Spelling Bee, develop safe schools walking route and sponsor an architectural tour.
So, please join us to preserve and strengthen the spirit, history, architecture and tranquility of the Sloan's Lake neighborhood. Meet your neighbors, have some fun, express your concerns, get involved. People together do make a difference.
